Over the course of her career, Federica has explored and developed her research through live performances as well.
It all started in Italy in 2012, when the company Teatro all'Improvviso invited her to perform in "Summer Solstice. The music of wonders" at Palazzo Te, Mantua, where she painted three large works in a night, the Tree as a central theme, each one of the artworks was made on the sound of the song Recollections by Miles Davis.
When working with music, Federica doesn’t use brushes very much, she usually paints with her hands directly on paper: this way she enters even more into the space of the artwork and leaves the presence of public behind. That’s how she can really feel the connection with music and be led by it. She wants to explore the links connecting her painting gestures, signs and movement of colors with music, rhythm, frequencies.
She collaborated multiple times with musicians in an interaction where she was transported by the music they played, while their music was influenced by her painting in return.
In 2013 she performed at Amstel 41 gallery of Amsterdam (Holland). In the same year, she collaborated with French cellist Marie-Sophie Leturcq from the Orchestre Philharmonique de Paris-Est in a show for Mantova Creativa in Italy. She performed with Italian pianist Emiliano Paterlini at 1 Stile Home Gallery in 2014, and in Panama City with Cuban violinist Yandri González Sotolongo for Jeronimo Gallery (2016).
The experimentation expanded further through the collaboration with dance companies, such as in the shows Carrillon Urbano and La danza dei colori by Compagnia Sisina Augusta (2013).
These live performances led her to be invited as visitor professor to the ESAD (Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático) in Cordoba, Spain, to conduct a series of workshops for the course of studies in Acting and Scenography, and curated the final show in 2013.
